The Client

One of 9 regional Centres of Excellence set up in response to a recommendation in the National Procurement Strategy in 2003 and sustainability demands.

The Challenge

The centre of excellent had a requirement to support local county councils in reducing the cost, improving the service levels and improving the sustainability of products supply to all government premises.
Users ranged from schools who operate only 36 weeks per year through to care homes who are open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

The Solution

The Axios team analysed the existing  logistics methodology and using LogiX software mapped out the future options and the savings achievable  by adopting each of these options.
Using the teams pragmatic approach to business and business change we reviewed with the client the barriers to implementation of each option and then set about removing these barriers without loosing the support of the individuals involved on a day to day basis.
Particularly as our clients were both the Centre of Excellence and the County Councils our ability to manage individual and differing objects was key to this project.

The Results

By consolidating suppliers, combining and improving delivery routes we provided a path to reduce logistics costs by 37%, increase delivery frequency and reduced environmental footprint by 44%.
