THE BOARDROOM GROUP
It’s a strange and lonely world when you’re a business owner or manager – NORMALLY!
The objective of The Boardroom Group enables business owners and senior managers to work with like-minded individuals to share experiences and solutions to day to day challenges.
Background
Ian Middleton has spent over twenty years managing and/or owning businesses. As a Managing Director he knows how the role can be both demanding and “lonely”. In Ian’s words “I have learnt a vast amount along the way, often learning by trial and error and by making mistakes, usually there was no one to ask. I hope I can help others to avoid these mistakes and make their business more successful more quickly”.
We all make mistakes but the fewer the better!
Having spent the last six years working with managers for the good of their business, Ian formed the Boardroom Group to create a non-threatening atmosphere where business owners and managers can learn both through formal sessions and by sharing their knowledge with the group on the basis that “two heads are better than one”.
The group is intended to fill the need for sharing learnings at Managing Director level which is not available elsewhere
Group Format
This is a members only group where membership is by invitation only and where no two members can be considered competitors. The group will be nominally eight members, to ensure open and valuable discussion is maximised. The meetings will operate with the same level of confidentially and professionalism expected at a company board meeting and matters raised will remain appropriately confidential.
Network selling banned by ALL present
Meetings will be monthly and chaired by Axios. On a rolling monthly basis the meetings will cover the following topics;
- The role of a business manager and leader – in the business or on it?
- Financial management – how do I make more profit?
- Structuring your business operations – where are the bottlenecks?
- Members choice (where the group identify the highest priority subject)
- People and people management – how do I get the best from my resource?
- Sales management – sales management is completly different to sales.
- Customer management – who do I want to work with?
- Members choice (where the group identify the highest priority subject)
- Business Strategy – real or imagined?
Each meeting will contain one “education” session (with invited presenters where appropriate) which will focus on issues most relevant to the members. Members will regularly get the opportunity to steer these groups by documenting their needs well in advance.
Member Profiles
It is important that each boardroom group is made up of like minded individuals with similar needs and with strong personal ethics.
Board members typically will come from a variety of businesses and industry sectors and the following profile is indicative of the personal attributes of such members.

Additional Member Benefits
When managing a business a month can be a very long time, also, matters raised at these meetings can become business critical quickly. Membership can be upgraded to include three hours of one to one mentoring per month.
Benefits
The benefits achieved will be very much dependant on individual situations. Two recent owners have stated;
“Before I worked with Ian I knew what I wanted the company to do but it was not doing it. I had some very unhappy staff, the business was starting to fail and I personally had had enough. Now it is a great company to work in and we will increase turnoverby 60% this year”.
“I have a lovely product and I made profit, however, I wasted a lot of time and resources. I doubled my profit within weeks of working with Ian and my business has a clear set of business systems plus a clear customer pipeline”.
